Action For Change
Posted on July 9, 2013
Are you ready for change? I am! So much so that I have taken the first step in the journey. If you want the detailed version of the change that I’m referring to, read it here.
Last week I filled out the application to register for the CELTA certification course. A couple days later I received a four page document which was a pre-entry test! I could not believe it. A test already, and I’m not even accepted into the course yet! Shame on me though. I should have known this would not be easy. Having been brought up in a British influenced culture and education system, I should be totally aware of their high standards. Afterall, it’s the reason why I decided to go for their certification instead of any ESOL course. The CELTA is a certification for teachers of english language to adults, awarded by the University of Cambridge to successful candidates. According to my research, it’s the only certification of it’s kind that is widely accepted worldwide. The university has testing centers in several U.S. states.
The pre-entry test will be reviewed by the university. My performance will determine whether I get to move on the the interview process which is the last step for entry into this intensive course. After lots of research, I completed the test and submitted it today.
Now I wait.
Cross your fingers with me please. Better yet, say a prayer to the God of Heaven and Earth that I’m accepted. This is the first step in fulfilling one of my dreams. This has to work. All of my money is on this journey to change. I do not have another plan.
As I wait, I am hopeful. If you’ve read my post “Thinking About Change”, you know that my initial plan was to teach in Switzerland. Now, I’ve decided to keep my options open. Canada has started to sound pretty good to my ears. I don’t know. I’ll see where life takes me, where God leads.
I’m excited…and nervous! Did I say, this has to work?! If it does, better yet WHEN it does, I can check one goal of my list of things to accomplish. Now I’ll go say a prayer. You say one too so that I can bring you a positive update.
Until next time!
